Reel Into it!

Ok, if fishing is a little new to you here are some tips. You will hear me or a member of the crew over and over again when fighting a fish and trying to coach you along. Reel into it, meaning when you get a bite, let the fish run with the bait for maybe 5-10 seconds. Don’t slam the reel in gear and set the hook. Slowly put the two speed reel into gear, making sure you have about a 45 degree angle on the rod and reel into it. Do not jerk the pole to set the hook. When fighting the fish use the boat and the waves to your advantage. Meaning when the boat goes up with the waves, stop reeling. When the boat goes down, reel into it. An inch is a gain. The harder you pull the more the fish will pull. So slow steady reel, keep a bend in the pole at about 45 degrees. DO NOT go to high and always “turn the handle Randle” before you start bring the rod down. In the video below, this young lady did ok for her first time.  She listend and landed a big yellowtail. You do not want any slack as you are winding down. If so, the hook may come loose. Take your time, smooth is fast. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram. We have two boats to chose from the Todo O Nada, which is a 4 guest boat and the Ironclad which is a 6 guest boat.
